Lighting | Hires | Installs | Pat testing
From an early age, I've always been intrigued by the tech that is used to put on a show. Being able to envision a scene and enhance a stage through lighting, and that's when I realised that theatre/stage lighting was a way to pursue that passion. I've taught myself a lot of stuff over the years as I didn't have any contacts, or know anyone that partook in stage lighting.
After a while, I went and got myself some cheap lights and my first lighting controller was a Chauvet OBEY 3. I had that for a few years, learning and teaching myself all I could about how it works and the various control settings. After furthering my knowledge, I wanted to find more and try to expand my range and skill and I was able to do this when I found a company called ADJ and found that they did a wide range of more advanced lighting tech. One of which was the ADJ MYDMX 2.0 software and the dongle. It took a lot of hours repeating the same stuff and learning how the different settings worked with the software but these hard hours soon paid off. Whilst educating myself in the world of technical lighting, I joined a panto group when I was 8 and was on stage for 7 years due to my love for theatre but, mainly because I wanted to see how the lights worked.
Around the age of 15 I was finally able to get involved with doing the lighting for the panto group and have been since then, gaining a range of experience from my time. In 2020 I went to college doing a course in Production Art and Live Events and discovered that the lighting consoles and tech used in professional sectors were a lot more advanced than what I had started with. After working with an ETC element and ion for a year, I got myself an ETC dongle so I could control lights with my computer, since getting aquatinted with this system, it has been the one I use to run all my lighting projects and shows. After I finished my college course I have been fortunate enough to have acquired a place on an apprenticeship as a Theatre Technician, at the Taunton Brewhouse furthering my knowledge in the sector even more. After I finish my apprenticeship at the Brewhouse I want to venture into the field of freelance working.
